When I'm creating spoons, I usually have several in various stages of completion on my workbench.  Here you see me sanding a spoon.  Sanding is a crucial step in producing a quality finish on a spoon. Although I sometimes use salad bowl varnish, my spoons are generally finished with a coating of mineral oil because it it is safe to use with food and does not turn rancid.
